The way I’ve edited it together examines the different ways he tells the story and shows the repetition of chat shows. It’s not just a compilation of John Cleese stuck together on premier pro without any thought. It’s a narrative montage with a building climax. The story deals with mental health in a comic tone and the repetitive narrative highlights the laborious efforts John Cleese goes to help his Mother. It’s humorously poignant and tenderly confronts a big issue. An audience can walk away thinking about the narrative choice or the subject matter. I made it because I noticed that when I watched famous people on chat shows on YouTube from the 60s to 80s, they often told the same anecdotes. It wouldn't have been easy to spot because television would be broadcast once, rarely repeated and no way to watch it again. There was no way to analyse things with a second viewing like you can do now in the modern-day.
