Filmmaker Statement

The Megagulper3000 is a story about surrender, our willingness to give it and our inability to love without it. It is a celebration of the resilience found when every element of your life is thrown 400,000 ft into the air before crashing chaotically back down in shambolic heaps around you. It is an honouring of the stomach-turning-fear of dancing towards the unknown with only the anchor of your emotional integrity to your name. Having gone through a period of extreme turbulence in my own life, The Megagulper3000 is a film of grappling with your identity, purpose and capacity to love and give. The idea originated from a conversation I wish I’d had. By documenting the ‘unsaid,’ I was able to explore how two people can enter into a conversation with totally opposing motives. Baring the scars of a painful break up, shed loads of hurt and expectation, Elise and Tomiwa cannot rely on the other to provide what they want.
