During the pandemic, I left my parents’ nest and ventured out on my own for the very first time. I moved into a home with roommates, and the experience wasn’t the very best. There were superiority complexes and fights over volume, girlfriends who paid no rent roaming the halls, and waking up and finding random people sleeping on the couch. Adulting felt like a phenomenon. The saying, “Life is about the journey, not the destination,” is often viewed as a cliche, but for anyone like myself, it has been a reality. We can’t always control what we are given, but it’s what we do with it that matters. I wanted to make a film that not only felt true to my experience but to anyone who would watch. Writing the film, I saw how the story shaped up to be bigger than me. It became something that could inspire any college student or adult rather to find their voice and make lemonade out of life’s lemons.
