THE TENANT
A man’s quiet afternoon turns to terror, when an evil force infiltrates his home. Shot entirely solo, this zero budget, guerilla style work, draws on Alan King's own experience with chronic illness.

In 2017, I developed a condition called Meniere’s disease, which affects the inner ear. Hearing loss, tinnitus and loss of balance are associated with this disease and of which I experienced all three. However, my situation deteriorated further following a medical procedure to address the initial hearing loss and I developed Vestibular Migraines leading to severe vertigo attacks, causing me to be violently ill up to 15 times daily. These attacks would come on at any time, but in a surreal twist, they often started in my sleep, infused in my dreams, before waking me up as the attack escalated. At their worst, the attacks lasted for just over a year and, thanks to medical intervention, I have now been in full remission for close to five years. However, the memory and trauma will live with me forever and the thought of these attacks returning is ever-present. 'The Tenant' is based on these experiences.
