Filmmaker Statement

I have many interests that I am always looking to combine in surprising ways. I have also always been super fascinated by unusual or forgotten performance forms, especially variety shows. They are a natural way to bring together different pieces that do not necessarily easily mesh. I have now made three original variety works, and in each I aim to go deeper and explore something new. In this film, I am overlaying a narrative for the first time– how do the seemingly unmatching pieces of a variety show find deeper meaning when woven together by a story? In this film, we see how Sterling grapples with unrequited love and a moment of real tension with one of his nearest and dearest.
