“We Want Faces So Bad”
Alexx must ‘face’ the reality of her overnight transformation when she joins her faceless friends in their nightly manifesting faces ritual.
There is camaraderie in a shared struggle. It is a comforting thing to know you are not alone in your troubles, and even more so when a community is there to offer mutual support. This is true of soldiers in battle, Alcoholics Anonymous, starving artists, teenage outcasts, and girls who have hair instead of faces. In ‘We Want Faces So Bad,’ Alexx deals with what happens when you transcend one struggle and enter another, but this time alone and without friends. The film is an exploration of the difficult task of relinquishing a group that was once a pillar in trying times and how to move forward on your journey, some dead weight must be left behind. - MVG
