Filmmaker Statement

WEAPONS AND THEIR NAMES channels the complicated feelings of grief, cultural identity and youth through magical realism and dream-like imagery. There are things in life that are extraordinary and beyond comprehension, and the surreal feel of Florida is a perfect backdrop to tell this story. The film places two strong immigrant women at the forefront, going through pain, and dealing with the turmoil as well they can. There are not many stories like that, so it was important to me that I make it happen.
