Filmmaker Statement

We are all guilty of filling our inner voids with cheap distractions. And so is the main character of this film. The unnamed protagonist doesn’t feel happy or fulfilled and that’s why they embark on a quest of self-discovery through increasingly erratic ways of re-inventing themselves, ultimately always failing to address the underlying issues that lurk beneath. There are hints within the story that the main character might be struggling with something darker and more complex than the usual blues. For me, they carry some sort of unresolved trauma that hinders their perception of reality. Ultimately, this film is a study of a very flawed but authentic character, who is feeling their way into adulthood. There is bravery in their willingness to change, and I believe that this is a relatable and satirical coming of age story – as satisfying as squeezing a spot.
