Filmmaker Statement

I wanted to make this film to highlight the personal reflections of a scientist during at a his last field work season in the extreme conditions of arctic Alaska. Dr. Tom Glass is a young, up-and-coming biologist whose research on wolverines has propelled him into the international spotlight. Beyond peer-reviewed scientific journal publications, his work has been featured in the New York Times and he is the subject of several upcoming BBC programs. Tom credits this accomplishment to an overwhelming lack of knowledge about wolverines in general. Just with general interest he became a leader on the subject that has propelled his career and changed his life forever. And now that work is complete. Now he goes to do something else. Follows, like anyone, a new stage in his life. This film sees him for the last time in the work that changed him, and made him realize that there's never enough time or resources to truly understand and perhaps truly help an elusive creature like the wolverine.
