I’ve always been worried about believing the ‘right’ thing. I grew up in a fundamentalist church where if you believe the ‘wrong’ thing then you’ll be condemned to hell for your mistake. As I’ve grown into my own beliefs, I’ve struggled to let go of the concept of believing in the ‘right’ thing. This film features characters who are all convinced they believe the ‘right’ thing and incidentally are trapped inside those (admittedly goofy) beliefs. Both The Custodian and Chris offer each other the chance to escape the restrictions of their own understanding but struggle with what comes next after you admit the world couldn’t care less about what you believe.
