Filmmaker Statement

139 is a story for me that edges into my favorite genre of films. Anything related to time travel or parallel universes has always been immensely captivating for me so this project was really important to me because it's essentially my first stab at the genre. In this universe we're looking more into a time loop situation where the film looks one way when you start watching but very different by the end. At the beginning it seems like you're watching Finn & his brother Ronnie trying to go back in time to save their sister - but by the end you realize this wasn't Finn's first time back, we watched his 139th attempt. And no matter how many times he tries he can only save one of them. His obsession and need to save both of them locks him into his own personal time loop hell. It was fun to try and attach such complex emotions to a sub 15 minute project but I think it really translated well
