Filmmaker Statement

Having had a family member incarcerated for the past decade, I’ve seen the toll that prolonged separation has on mothers and their children. I’ve made countless long weekend drives and witnessed the limitations that traditional visitation rooms offer. I’ve also seen the rare, invaluable opportunity for connection that weekend visits offer. My aim is for this film to lovingly unpack the manifold emotional tolls of incarceration on family -- the pain of distance, the complex tensions of forgiveness, and the sheer power of a mother’s love.
