Filmmaker Statement

FOR FOX SAKE is a surreal dark comedy about two souls brought together by chance and undone by different political beliefs. Once Cameron and Paul realise where they stand on the topic of fox hunting, Cameron is simply reduced to a ‘Saboteur’ and Paul to a ‘Terrier Man’. When that is established, there is no way for them to go back to how they once saw each other. This mirrors the highly polarised world we live in, where political beliefs are more important than the shared human connection. The film is also about how nature is indifferent, but we humans are not. The animals in this film are a strong contrast to the humans. The humans are driven by their beliefs while the animals are driven by their instincts. Cameron cares for nature, but nature kills him and what kills him is not the hate, but love. This is the tragedy, but also the comedy.
