I wanted to explore the dynamic of a marriage seeking to rekindle its spark in the midst of raising young kids. But, I also didn’t want this portrayal to be lugubrious or overwrought. This is a film that recognizes all the things you had to give up when you had kids early in life, while also balancing all the amazing things you gained. It’s about a happy marriage between two good people who just needed some time away--a day without.
