I want to change the world. To my embarrassment, I’ve had this unbearably arrogant and borderline narcissistic ambition since I was a kid. I’m self-conscious about it now, but when I look deep, I have to admit that it’s still lurking there, motivating my decisions, fueling my creativity, and annoying those around me. I still want to make as big an impact on the world as I can. And in that way, I relate to the main character in my film. He also has this ambition. And, while it admittedly borders on self-aggrandizement, many of the world’s most important people have had this ambition too. That’s what the film’s about. Ambition — what it’s good for, what it’s not good for, and whether it even contributes to someone’s likelihood of making the world a better place. I was inspired by some extensive research into some recent history, where I found examples of people who were asking these same questions. While many don't know their story, there aren’t many who don’t know its outcome.
