Last year Kailey Kornhauserand Marley Blonsky took the bike world by storm with a Bicycling Mag cover story and Washington Post article about body inclusivity and fat acceptance in the bike world. Kailey and I had gone to college together, so I knew she was a badass cyclist that had biked ACROSS Alaska, Iowa, and a huge chunk of Utah, but I didn’t know she was at the forefront of such an important conversation. I reached out about the potential for a film, and after months of conference calls, working to find a sponsor, and navigating Covid, Kailey, Marley, and my crew met up in Oregon to peel back the layers of what it means to be a cyclist. All Bodies on Bikes isn’t just here to say ‘everyone can ride bikes’, though that’s an important part. It’s here to discuss how being put in weight watchers at 12 years old impacts your entire life, how accepting your body can be a truly radical act, and how every one of us has a relationship with our body.
