Filmmaker Statement

An Original Idea splices satire with anxious comedy as it comments on the lack of implementation of meaningful climate change policies in the UK. This was conceived by myself and the co-writer India during lockdown as a response to the increasing chaos of what was happening in government and the seeming inability of anyone in charge to come up with a way forward. The film explores the fantasy of being able to effect change and the reality of trying to make that happen. Rooted in the narrative of our protagonist Bea, this is also a story of redemption. Bea sees this competition as a way to atone her past mistake on her student's exam paper and she stealthily creates a dinner party to coax her fellow teacher's ideas out of them. Set in a climate-wrecked future, this is also a story of a woman trying to prove herself against the odds
