Filmmaker Statement

Are You In Heaven was originally commissioned as a Fashion Film based on the themes of the clothes; Future Masters/Future Servants. We encouraged the designer to create a short narrative film instead. We wrote a script based on the psychological group test; 'The Asch Conformity Experiment'. Boiled down this film is all about standing up to the group. The group will bully you, alienate you, treat you in all kinds of awful ways. Never let them destroy you and stand up for what's right, especially in these dark times. As history has taught us, those who have been demonized and cancelled are usually the ones who get liquidated. So let's stand for decency against evil before it is too late. Coming from a lower class background in the UK, there are no opportunities to create films, so we’ve always felt voiceless, or like outsiders similar to our protagonist. We’ve had to piggy-back on opportunities like this Fashion Film - which in turn, has given this film it's unique feel.
