When I was a senior in college, I was in a constant state of flux. I was both nostalgic and apprehensive; remembering the last three years while being anxious about the next three. Everyone has an opinion on how you should spend your academic years and, as a senior, I couldn’t help but wonder if I spent mine the right way. In "Ask Your Friends", I wanted to explore this through the lens of love: who to love, how to love, whether you even should love. I tried to give each character a different outlook I either heard expressed or felt myself during those four years. Now, almost a year after graduating, it's easy to consider my higher education as merely a placeholder for the real world. And maybe it is in some ways. But college is also where I learned how to write, how to be a filmmaker, how to be an adult. More importantly, it's where I met my best friends. And without them, this film wouldn’t exist. So I thank them for all they’ve given me and hope they don’t sue after watching.
