Filmmaker Statement

"Avocado" is a kinky sweet romcom that came from a personal place. We live in an era where technology, intimacy, and privacy are always in conflict and was an area I wanted to explore. Avocado was born out of that clash in 2019. I wanted the first half to feel like you accidentally stepped into a kink film until you realize what's going on, then get wrapped up in the absurdist conflict that results until it turns sweeter by the end. We opted to shoot this on 35mm as it exposed the bright lights and actors better than most and if we're gonna call ourselves filmmakers, shooting on 35mm should be done at least once. I am immensely proud of "Avocado" and it has toured dozens of film festivals over the span of 2022!
