I’m Ramiel Petros, a filmmaker in Brooklyn NY. I’m a 2019 graduate of Tisch School of the Arts, and am currently a filmmaker fellow with the Jacob Burns Film Center. Aziz has just finished up its festival cycle, and I’m submitting to various online platforms for an online release in the next month or so. Aziz is a film that follows three Iraqi men during the 1980’s Iran/Iraq war on their way to a military base to identify their childhood friend’s body. It’s based on my father’s true story. It has played at Oscar qualifying festivals and has been nominated & won awards at several. It was a semi-finalist for the student academy awards, as well as shortlisted for a student BAFTA Award. This film has meant alot to me the past few years, and I'm very excited to release it into the world.
