Filmmaker Statement

Together, as three high school friends, New Jersey natives, and wrestling fans, we set out to capture a visceral and immersive exploration of underground independent wrestling during the summer of 2020. The intention was to examine the sacrifices, difficulties, and payoffs that come along with that world, while asking a more universal question of why anyone does what they do. Yet, after filming, this project stalled out in 2020 during the height of COVID. Three years later, it was picked back up as a true passion project under the independent production company, Daydream Studios, as part of our original content arm, Daydream Labs. With the goal of turning profits earned from client projects into personally fulfilling, experimental content, this film was (fittingly) the first to enter post-production there.
