Filmmaker Statement

I created this short film to give voice to silenced and overlooked lives. Ellie’s journey is not only about being a transgender sex worker, but about loss, reflection, and the possibility of change. As a trans filmmaker, I know the struggle of confronting yourself in the mirror — facing what has been taken, while still holding on to hope. This story grew from that tension: how a single moment can open wounds but also reveal new strength. I wanted to craft a film that is intimate, raw, and deeply human, stripped of sensationalism and grounded in honesty. By focusing on one night in Ellie’s life, I hope to show how survival and dignity can intersect, and how transformation often arrives when least expected. For me, this film is about honoring resilience and reclaiming visibility, offering audiences not just a story of loss, but a reminder of our universal need to be seen and loved.
