Filmmaker Statement

Set in Tanzania, the story of 'Blessed by Sunlight' provides a shocking insight into the haunting lives of its most marginalized citizens, people with albinism. Following decades of dangerous superstitions, these people have been subjected to mass discrimination and stereotypes based on their unique physical characteristics. Our production team was built with inclusivity in mind, fostering collaboration across continents. We strived for diversity and inclusivity by bringing together talents from Poland, the UK, and Kenya. While the Director/DP and main Producer hailed from Europe, the majority of our crew, including Co-producer, were from various African countries. One of the distinctive aspects of our project was its partnership with the Youth Film Platform Africa. We transformed our production into a unique learning experience for film students in Kenya, essentially treating it as a practical film class.
