Filmmaker Statement

What happens to us when we get our eyes off of the Earth? Are we fulfilling our destiny, or abandoning it? Is there some great thing waiting for us? Could we wait long enough to find out? These are just some of the (admittedly huge) questions I asked myself when making this piece. To get anywhere near an answer, I ended up throwing away a lot of the narrative principles I've been working with my whole career and built this short around four distinct feelings: Searching, Reaching, Hoping, and Waiting. Bright Forests invites you to let your eyes wander skyward and ponder —— if only for 15 minutes.
