Filmmaker Statement

Hello! Thank you for watching our debut short film "Canker Sore". We self produced this short film and it was an absolute privilege to work on. I first began writing this script in early 2024 and shared it with a group of friends in a writers group. With their encouragement and the support of an amazing production team we set out to make a project of our own. Our goal was to make a 5 minute self-contained narrative short that was uniquely us. Our cinematographer Dave Carroll (The Daily Show, The Colbert Report) and I had previously worked together on Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, so getting to work together again was an an absolute dream! I was so honored by the response we got to the film from audiences and we even got nominated for Best Microshort at Rock City Film Festival 2026 !
