Filmmaker Statement

My Haitian roots served as inspiration for “Caroline,”— a short psychological thriller that explores the hazy boundary between the paranormal and mental illness. As it turns out, there is still a stigma around mental illness in my community. Instead of seeing it for what it actually is, most Haitians believe that mental illnesses occur because of either spells or demonic possessions.I want to utilize my voice as a filmmaker to help change that by bringing awareness to the issue.
