Clairvoyant is about a lot of things for me, but above all it’s about the exact period of time it ended up defining. I turned 18 writing this film, experienced the highs and lows and everything that come with a first relationship, I got my first job, and I exported the final cut the week I graduated high school. Claire represents the part of me that has spent the last two years dreading those things. Something that comes with living in the same house most of your life is watching your home become haunted, and from a pretty young age I’ve felt like this. That memories are ghosts and those who remember are haunted. I set out to make something scary when I started writing this in September, but over the course of the year it became something far more melancholy and complex and beautiful then that, and I’ve never been more proud of anything I’ve made.
