Filmmaker Statement

“Closer” is a screen adaptation of two Lithuanian writers‘ works: Sigitas Parulskis and Laura Sintija Černiauskaitė. While making this film, I had a long thought about how to combine the two works without losing the style of the short stories and at the same time to reveal myself as a director, and most importantly to tell a strange but at the same time romantic story when the question is "what do I want?" turns into "what do I really need?" or to say "I care about you and I love you" in the strangest of ways.
