Filmmaker Statement

The submission cover letter speaks most clearly to the creative vision and genesis of the film... ...but a note on how the BUDGET was an extension of that vision: For most first-time filmmakers, financing is a community effort -- a calling on your nearest and dearest to lend what support they can to allow you to do your work. But my community is young people in New York theatre. People buried in debt to get the best training and education they can, people who couldn't work in their field for nearly two years and where there are now precious few jobs to fight for. People who had no money to give or any business parting with what little survival they had managed to hold onto. So we intentionally did not ask for money. We asked for time. Friends who could help out on set, who could lend their skills or equipment they happened to have, or artistic opinion they could give to a rough cut. That was the support we asked for.
