The writer and lead Ava Hase approached me in January of 2022 with this script and I was instantly drawn into her characters and story! "Cowards" is a dark dramedy voicing commentary on the zillenial artist plight. With ever-growing competition in all creative industries, we struggle with the concept of getting noticed, building our careers, and the manic anxiety that comes with it. Ava and I wanted to paint a modern picture of that stress emotion through two individuals that are at the end of their friendship. Who lean on each other instead of taking agency for their own future.
