Director Statement Humour and comedy also helped me in coming to terms with the repressive experiences and violence in Belarus. This is one of the reasons why I often find inspiration in both laughing AND crying. I write characters that are both humorous and vulnerable. My stories are multi-layered, like my friends and acquaintances who always inspire me.
