Filmmaker Statement

"A good friend helps you move, a great friend helps you move the body" I started from this funny thought experiment mixed with a personal friendship that recently went south. When I stepped away from that person, I started to wonder where I had stuck my neck out too far for this person, and started to wonder how many of us do this for those 'friends' that maybe we shouldn't. Having the strange sensibilities of The Coen Brothers and loving films like 'Big Trouble In Little China', I wanted to take this idea to its farthest reaches. From here, DEAD WEIGHT was conceived. I am excited for you to share in a story that I hope is funny, puts Toronto on the map, and tells a personal story through a strange lens. Plus, I think we've all considered offing our landlord as a way out of paying rent.
