Filmmaker Statement

I have been fascinated by movies and their impact on the audience and the world. No other medium has in my view such a powerful impact on humanity, and within a few seconds make one cry out with laughter, or experience a deep sense of sorrow. I love watching movies and also writing and making them. It's the one area that displays a true commonality across borders and cultures, that we need more of in this increasing age of forced cultural separation. What spoke to me around Death Lies on Her was the forced separation of the main characters, of their doomed love in a cold, unfeeling world much like the doomed love in Shakespeare's original classic of Romeo and Juliet. I wanted to demonstrate sci-fi and horror blended into the classics, a relatively new avenue to explore and invent from and which has been prophetic given recent times the world has faced. This is my debut film.
