Meeting and helping the Kovalchuk family just after they arrived in the US in March of 2022 was most important. It was their desire to capture and share their story for others, and once I heard some of that story, the psychological atrocities of war in addition to the physical atrocities we hear and see so often, we started to make plans to document and gather all we could.
