Filmmaker Statement

This film is intended to be a body horror, literally, in that it is the basic bodily functions that keep you alive are the roots of the horror. In an anechoic chamber there is no outside sound, so when our mind no longer has noise to filter out it begins to listen to itself and over compensate. People who stay too long claim to hear their heartbeat clear as day, their blood pumping and their tendons stretching. Some even claim to hear voices along with hallucinations of faces and objects. In a world where it feels like we are constantly bombarded by stimuli, the idea is what happens when that is taken away? The fear of being alone, the fear of not being able to be heard… When all noise is gone and we’re forced to confront ourselves we can become scared of what we find. The goal is to explore self-perception along with how our mind interprets and views, whether intentionally or not, our own bodies and when the credits role that you can hear your own heartbeat too.
