Filmmaker Statement

Dodged is a film driven by audience and a desire to create an incredible and surprising experience for the people that watch it. I really wanted to create a film that has a strong sense of progression and development, and to subvert the expectations that I hope the audience will predict as the film plays out, all wrapped in a short run time. I also wanted to play with the female character trope of the 'damsel in distress' in thrillers. I felt it would be interesting to see if the audience themselves would plant this trope in their own mind, before being caught off guard by the story and ultimately selling the ending better. This all comes together to hopefully create a strong, female led thriller, that creates a unique viewing experience for an audience, leaving them with the craving for a re watch.
