Filmmaker Statement

Often times black fatherhood is overlooked. A subject not really shown in conventional media. Fathertime came at a very delicate time for me, I had a lot of close friends who were new fathers. I saw first hand some of the difficulties they faced. At the same time I was strengthening a relationship with my sick father, who unfortunately lost his life two months after this film released. I wanted to give my friends a space to talk about their revelations as new dads, the good, the bad and the ugly. All at the same time highlighting them, not only because they are fathers but showing their growth as men.
