Filmmaker Statement

"Fetish" is a deeply personal film conceived in the wake of the Atlanta spa shootings, when writer/producer Jennifer Zhang was forced to contemplate her decades-long struggle with fetishism and the role it has played as a persistent, dehumanizing hindrance in her love life. On the strength of the script, the passion of the team -- with director Rhian Williams and co-producer Jo Podmore -- and the timeliness of the subject matter, the production attracted phenomenal Asian American talent in key creative positions, including director of photography Daphne Qin Wu (Accepted, The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster), gaffer Haneul Kim, editor Goldmond Fong, sound designer/sound editor Paul Hsu (tick, tick... BOOM!, Salt) and supporting actress Gina Su. Composer/Orchestrator Drew Krassowski (Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy) and co-star Joey Heyworth round out the creative team.
