Filmmaker Statement

Flora started this project as part of her Graduate film, studying Television BA(Hons) at Edinburgh Napier university in 2022. Using an All-Female crew, this project investigates the subject of gender-based violence in Scotland through experiences of young women, in order to help start conversations amongst young men about their role in ending violence against women. Through a series of Interviews, we gain an insight into the personal and upsetting reality of what it's like to be a woman living in Scotland. Speaking to Graham Goulden, an ex-police officer who specialises in tackling men’s violence through delivering leadership and bystander training to men across education, law enforcement and other areas, nationally. Graham has contributed to the extremely impactful Police Scotland Campaign "Don't Be That Guy" which aims to gender-based violence through conversations with men about male sexual entitlement. Girls Talk won The Clements Family Prize for TV Production in July 2022.
