I wrote Gone Fishin’ as a way to exercise some thoughts I was having about how mean some people are, and how there are so many hurt-people out there that go around hurting other people because they’re just toddlers in adult bodies. Then I drifted away from that and started thinking about how so many people around me were so quick to shit on others for trying things, or for just expressing themselves and being vulnerable and authentic. But then I caught myself and was like, some people’s attempts at being raw and expressive are actually really corny, or contrived, or straight-up embarrassing. And then I realized there’s probably people out there that think that about me and my work. And then I started laughing. Also, the Man on the Park Bench character is based on a real exchange I had once, except the guy used a more hurtful word than "pussy" if you know what I mean.
