Filmmaker Statement

When tackling this new take on a literary classic it was important to us to retain some of the thematic elements from the original story: The supernatural versus the natural, how history and folklore can inform a community, etc. But the main theme that emerged from our fresh take on these characters was that of trying to find your identity in a world that can be hostile to those who don’t inherently fit in. Everyone can relate to that unnerving feeling of not truly understanding who they are or where they belong. Through the plight of the Headless Horseman, our show finds our heroes literally digging into a case of hidden identity while unknowingly being forced to confront their own hidden identities in the process. As events unfold, and as the Horseman’s wacky new personalities throw wrench after wrench into the plot, Ichabod and his ragtag band of new friends realize that the only thing they really need to realize their own potential is each other.
