Filmmaker Statement

Hot Dog Guy is loosely based on a real-life happenstance of mine. It was created as part of Winnipeg Film Group's 48 Hour Film Contest so although I had the general script several additions were made throughout shooting with help of the cast/crew. After its initial screening at the Gimli Film Festival, several people told me they’d been in similar situations and really related to it. And several people asked me "why is she so sad?". So I've come to think of the film as a litmus test for who has experienced the awkwardness of anxiety. I also wrote a blog post about making the film that's on my website: https://sarabulloch.ca/blog/2019/7/19/hot-dog-guy-48-hour-film-contest-5-things-i-learned
