Filmmaker Statement

"Jaded" is a story of picking up the pieces of your life after being tested in the most difficult way. I wrote the script during a rough patch in my life; nearing the end of college and forced to leave behind a lot of fragments of myself in order to build myself back up. "Jaded" is about reflecting on those fragments in order to move forward, stronger. My goal is to inspire everyone, but particularly Black and first-generation women to not only pick up those pieces out of obligation- life has to keep going right?- but out of desire. Too often we're made to feel small and restricted by our limitations. "Jaded" offers an opportunity to feel empowered by setbacks to create something great.
