Filmmaker Statement

In 2022 I started a project I'm going to continue for the next 5-10 years, or as long as it takes: a film for every month of the year, all set in the same small town in Wisconsin, but crossing people, cultures, and even time periods. Inspired by the work of Mike Leigh, who was the head of my film school when I attended, I want to document, portray, and have fun with the colorful personalities I grew up with and know by heart and put them in a fishbowl. "JANUARY" is the first, a portrait of an aging church volunteer who's church has seen better days and isn't respected for the amount of work she puts into the place - at the same time, she's not the friendliest person to the young woman getting married (who might be in over her head as well.).
