Filmmaker Statement

Waves of Silence was born from a place of deep concern and reflection. As a filmmaker and visual artist, I have long explored themes of impermanence, displacement, and the fragile relationship between humans and their environment. What began as a fictional meditation on climate anxiety soon took on chilling relevance after the DANA disaster of 2024 struck Valencia — an event that blurred the line between imagination and lived experience. Set in an emptied Barcelona, the film invites viewers into a world where silence speaks louder than words. It is not a narrative of spectacle, but one of absence — of what remains when a city is forced into retreat. Through this experimental lens, I aim to evoke the emotional weight of climate breakdown, beyond statistics and news headlines. Waves of Silence is not just a warning. It is a call to slow down, to look closer, and to listen — before the silence becomes permanent.
