Filmmaker Statement

Unemployed and knee-deep in college debt, our team was incredibly disgruntled with our collective college experiences by the time Adnan (our writer-director) finished this script. He primed us by saying he wanted to make the "least student film-ey, film about students". As a producer, I was skeptical to use twenty-something characters in a lengthy film about post-grad education without it being written off as a cheap, ego-driven student film from the getgo. But after reading the script, it was clear that the ideas on the page were both relatable and something that hadn't been covered before: What kind of person does the current educational system breed? The answer, we found, was not a great person. This story is about what happens when a flawed system becomes incompatible with truly passionate people. And, most importantly, the unhealthy lengths at which passionate people go to achieve what they truly believe in.
