Filmmaker Statement

Disillusionment is a tricky thing. How do we proceed? How do we embrace reality but still go on living? Do we choose ignorance? The film is a large and unique collaborative project with creators from the fashion, dance, film and music industries. All graduated just before or during the lockdown and without any work in our own disciplines, we decided to make a short film at the ultimate intersection of music and film with all the thoughts and themes running through our heads at the time: As the end approaches, who do you want to be with? Do we run away? Or do we dance on quicksand with our eyes closed? Avalanches plays with metaphors from nature and how we deal with it as humanity. With chances of thunderstorms, loose avalanches and cities on the verge of collapse, we dance on quicksand. But when the storm dies down, the rain subsides and the city is clean again, new opportunities lie ahead. A film full of poetic song, lyrics, dance and distinctive costumes.
