I wrote this film after my girlfriend and I made the decision to have a child together. After that, I didn't expect to feel anything negative. I thought that the fear or possible doubts would appear only a few months before the birth of my child... It was quite different and I very quickly felt an immense anxiety at the idea of becoming a "dad". When I was only 6 years old, my parents divorced because of my father's drinking problems. What caused my father to behave like his father before him (my grandfather was an alcoholic, gambled on dog racing in England and was certainly unfaithful on many occasions)? Was it possible for him/them to put things right or were they doomed to repeat the same mistakes as their father before them? Am I doomed? Like Father, Like Son is a dramatic film, full of hope, where two characters manage to reconcile and then share a moment that will help them build their relationship for the future, despite the terrible context in which they find themselves.
