Twenty-seven seasons and counting, we are still watching a show that commodifies desirability, capitalizes on age-old gendered dynamics and exploits our fear of being alone. We cannot look away because it allows us to confront the possibility of doomed single-hood and unrequited love, with the possibility of finding “the one” dangling in front of us like a carrot.
